Norway Series One |
The first series of 4 large oil canvases (42” x 42”) were based on my first trip to Norway in 1998. Two were based on sites in the Sognafjord near Bergen, and the others are closer to my family ”home” of Bryggia, Nordfjord; including the “Kannensteinen Rock” outside of Nordfjord facing the North Sea. Norway Series Two |
This series began as homage to Nordfjord in Linoleum Block. Unlike the “Innvik series”, it is based on a location close to Bryggia, my extended family’s lands. 19th c. boats, a holy Island (Selja, home to St, Sunniva, the first person to bring Christianity to Norway) near to the mouth of the Nordfjord, and the Parish church my Great-great grandfather helped to build, all play their part in this most inviting area.
